Angie Butler was born in Manchester and educated at Stamford High School, Lincs. and Helston Grammar School, Cornwall. Angie studied Art and Design at Sheffield and trained as a Primary School Teacher. She has taught in London, the Isle of Wight and three large Primary Schools in Cornwall. She writes and publishes children's books, with stunning black and white illustrations by local artists. Children are invited to be inventive and add to and colour the pictures for themselves. Her first two books are of an old and a new Cornish legend.
Her books fill a gap in a very competitive market. They re-unite children with their culture and most are in English and French and have additional translations. This enables students from home and abroad to have a tempting flavour of another language.
Angie holds art/drama/literacy story times and workshops where students from home and abroad, respond to words with illustrations and to illustrations with words.
Angie's work with children and disabled young adults inspires them to attain their best in whatever style they feel comfortable. She is a keen and active supporter of the arts and artists especially those from Cornwall.
